Eligibility Criteria

  • Master’s degree (M.Tech/M.E.) in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Chemical, Energy Engineering) with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • Qualified in GATE (Petroleum Engineering) or NET/SET (Science & Technology) – minimum qualifying score as per the conducting body.
  • English proficiency: Minimum IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80 (if the previous degree is not in English).
  • For candidates with a B.Tech/M.Sc. background, a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience is required.

Entrance Examination

Admission to the Ph.D. program is based on the following entrance examinations:

  1. GATE – Petroleum Engineering (PE): Valid GATE score with a minimum qualifying percentile (usually 40th percentile for General category).
  2. CSIR-UGC NET / UGC SET: Minimum qualifying score as prescribed by the governing bodies.
  3. DIT University Ph.D. Entrance Test: Conducted for candidates without a valid GATE/NET score. The test comprises:
    • Paper‑I: General Aptitude & English (30 marks)
    • Paper‑II: Core Petroleum Engineering (70 marks)
